"That should be enough snacks, right?" Kara asks Streaky, watching the orange tabby bat around a tinkling ball that Kara was so sure that she threw away. Turns out cat toys with bells are actually kind of terrible when you have super hearing.

The coffee table is practically bowing under the weight of all the junk food on it. She had gone a little crazy at the store, but she knows herself. She knows Barry. She wanted to be prepared. There's even a giant box of donuts from the shop that they've been asked to leave more than once. Barry is bringing take out for something of actual substance, so they should be set for the night.

She's excited to have a night off to just relax with her friend. It's been awhile since they've gotten together in any sort of unofficial, non-superhero capacity and as much as she loves saving the world (or well, Darrow) with him, sometimes it's nice to just be Kara and Barry.

There's a knock at the door and Kara hops up, grinning over as she skips over to answer it.

"It was wild," says Barry, giving Streaky's tail a playful swat as she stalks away from him. It's actually probably the Puff she smells - it'd been sitting on Barry's feet for hours as if that might stop him zooming off again.

"I ate a rabbit, though." He shoves two eggrolls into his mouth. "I'm trying not to think about that."

The chicken calls to her next, and she digs out a drumstick to sink her teeth into. She nearly chokes at Barry's sudden admission and looks over at him with wide eyes, pausing with the drumstick in her mouth before snatching it away.

"Like, a bunny in the woods?" Kara asks, blinking owlishly before shuddering a bit. "So you were like, a real wolf wolf."

She takes another piece of chicken and leans over to put it on Barry's plate. "Let's stick to the cooked food tonight, wild man."

"I hear that," says Barry with feeling. With his caloric needs - and his genuine love of food - there's no chance of him becoming vegetarian, but the memories of that come close to pushing him there.

"It was cool, though. Running on all fours is a completely different feeling. And the moon made me feel like I was going crazy, but Derek helped a lot."

"Well, if anyone could it would be him." Kara sits with her legs crossed on the sofa, plate piled high and balanced on her lap. She's seen Derek as a wolf, but it would have been cool to see Barry too. Though, it's understandable that he kind of kept to himself. "How'd he do with the speedster powers? It must have been cool to go all Freaky Friday with your boyfriend like that."

There's grease on her fingertips and she probably doesn't look very ladylike, but Barry gets it. She can let loose a little, and does just that as she breaks another egg roll in half. "You missed all the excitement with the Hatchimals, though." She grins teasingly at him. "I was kicking furry little asses while you were probably off partaking in... sexy full moon activities."

Barry blushes and shoves another egg roll in his mouth. "Pretty much," he concedes. "I can't believe the city went with Hatchimals again. This place is so freaking weird, and we're already from weird places."

He sighs, pulling out a plate from Kara's pantry to load up. His arms blur, and in seconds the plate is nearly as tall as he is. "Sometimes I think there's another breach somewhere, and all the weirdness just comes pouring out of it."

"I guess you're fast enough that I don't have to worry about you spilling," Kara says with a laugh, watching as Barry settles with his mountain of food. Not that she's showing much restraint herself.

She does show great restraint in not teasing Barry about his adorable blush, however.

"The Hatchimals were a repeat? Is it possible that they're running out of ideas?" Her brow furrows in thought at his mention of a breach and she nods, tearing off a bit of pizza with her teeth. Once she's done chewing, she looks up at him again. "I guess that makes sense, as much as anything in this weird place can. I mean, we've seen other dimensions. You and I both know there are many Earths. But there's been a way off of those."

"Yeah, bunch of little ones," says Barry around his newest mouthful, "Instead of the big one that was apparently in town on New Year's Day." He shrugs, not unhappy to have missed that, though his expression does fall the more they talk of breaches.

"It still seems unfair I can only run fast enough to get to another Darrow instead of my own Earth," he continues. "That's not how reality is supposed to work."

"I don't think supposed to can really be applied to anything here." Kara gives him a rueful smile and looks down at her plate. She's supposed to be in National City with her sister and her friends, but as much as she pounds on the sky with her fists, this place isn't going to let her out. A soft sigh escapes her and she huffs, scooting over so she can lean against Barry and rest her head on his shoulder.

"This is supposed to be a fun night," she reminds him, poking at his tummy as it remains as flat as ever. "We can't get maudlin on each other now, man."

Ticklish and surprised, Barry jumps a little, smacking her hand playfully away . "Right, right," he says, giving himself a mental shake. "Besides, Derek's in this reality. That's enough."

Smiling again, Barry gives the shoulder she's resting on the tiniest shrug. "What about you?" he asks. "Any...special friends in sight?"

"Yeah, and you guys are the cutest." She lifts her hands to do air quotes around her next words. "Couple goals."

Her eyes roll a bit at his question and she shrugs, turning her head until the tip of her nose rests against Barry's throat. "I thought I just said we weren't getting maudlin."

After a few moments, she lifts her head from Barry's shoulder and shrugs again, smiling wrly. "No special friends. Did you not see the cat?"

"Hey, I live with several animals," says Barry. He doesn't mean to pry, but Kara's so warm and open, despite the secret identity she keeps. It doesn't seem right for her to be alone.

"I never thought I'd meet anybody I cared about as much as Iris," he continues. "Maybe it'll be like that for you. Someone will show up here and - " He snaps his fingers. "Kryptonian in love."

"Does that include Derek?" Kara asks, eyes bright with amusement at her own joke. Her expression softens as he continues speaking, and one corner of her mouth quirks up in a smile. She thinks of James, fondly and wistfully, wondering what might have been.

"There was a guy here. We went on a date," Kara says after a moment, looking down at her plate of food. "But then you and Derek were missing, and I was so busy being Supergirl." It's obvious by her tone that she places no blame on Barry, of course she doesn't. It was just a matter of circumstance. "And he was just so sweet and normal. He has a kid, and they're both so, so human. It didn't seem fair to sweep them up into everything I have going on."

Barry listens in surprise. He'd been completely unaware that she's been seeing anyone, however briefly. "It's harder when they're normal," he agrees with a wince. "Derek has powers and a secret identity and it makes all the sneaking around so much easier. Plus I know he can handle himself."

Throwing a normal human man and a child into that...Barry shudders. "I'm sorry."

"And you both look good in leather," Kara says glumly, unable to fully commit to the teasing. "That's gotta be a plus."

She lets out a sigh and curls into his side, one arm slung over his waist. She might be a little lacking in the romance department, but at least she has good friends. "Someday my prince will come. Maybe he'll be bulletproof and wear a cape too."
